Why would a guy like Mike want to be staked if he has enough money?
Wouldn't that cost him a lot of money?

If he had a lot of his own money then yes I would say it is costing him some cash.

He's either gone busto at some point and whoever is backing him wanted a long term deal or he's not wanting a high variance deal by paying for all his own entry fees. I've heard he likes the pit games but that's just a lil gossip.

He's not as bad as some of us make him out to be. On the surface he looks terrible, but "it works" against a lot of people, and it takes some effort to actually beat him.
