WTF, 6 foot 4 prop? How big is the other guy?

If you're a prop you NEED leg strength. Being a big fat bastard doesn't help. If you can't push you're not doing your number one job.

You have absolutely no excuse not to work legs (if the gym doesn't have any free weights what so ever, either quit or work them somewhere else. Ask a friend or random fat bastard to get on you piggyback and then do squats, get a bag full of sand and lift it off the ground, push a car round a car park, do something useful. Biceps don't mean [censored] in rugby until you're at a really high level (and given you seem to have no team training I feel safe in saying you're not).

Hi guys,

You are absolutely right, I dont play at a very high level. Which is the only reason I can afford to play prop, when I was playing for a decent team I always got moved back to 2nd row because the height difference always killed me against decent opposition.

The gym I'm at only has barbells, biggest being 38 kilos, so I guess I'll have to try and figure out some way to work these.

To be honest though, my main focus at the moment is fitness and losing weight, because at the level I'mplaying at, I'm normally the strongest man on the pitch, and my side of the scrum always goes forward. I'm trying to get around the park a bit more now, make more tackles and actually score more than one try every two years...

You should do sprints and interval running - on a field, not on a treadmill; a big prop who can run is truly terrifying.
