Your impression of the first dealer is so spot-on, I can Name That Dealer.

Don't let him upset you. He wasn't trying to embarrass you. He's just, well, let's say "mentally challenged". You should see him try to deal O/8.

...I tip even though the guy has done his best to embarrass me at the table and I'm still replaying everything in my mind...

[/ QUOTE ]

Looks like you did something wrong to me...

Other than that, seems like you handled it well. I'm a pretty calm guy at the table but I'm sure I would have reacted and escalated the problem. Well done.

I know what you mean about tipping there. I am sometimes torn on the tipping issue in spots like this. Do I not tip to "teach a lesson" or do I tip to show that I'm the bigger man in the situation, so to speak. I figure it doesn't matter either way because any person who would treat a paying customer in that way (who has done nothing to deserve it), isn't going to learn any "lessons" by not getting a tip. Once he reamed me the 2nd time about tabling my two kings there was no doubt his tips were gone from me. Thankfully he was immediately tapped out and left the table. I was glad to see that.

Like you, I'm a very calm person at the table and I try to just remain calm rather than cause a scene. I'm a very non-confrontational person and I figured there was enough uneasiness at the table without me getting into it with the dealer. But yes, I was biting my tongue. Thanks for the compliment.

I'll jump on the bandwagon. Dealer #1 is an idiot and should be fileted. On the hand where all the other cards were in the muck and he gave you sh^t I would have called the floor over and asked what that casino required for certification for their poker dealers. Yeah, total pri&k but he deserved it and cocky clowns like that need to be responded to quickly. Humble his ass.

I don't really think it's worth a big scene with any dealer. He's there all the time. The floor is around all the time. The floor either doesn't care, or is too obtuse to realize what's going on. If you've got to say something to somebody, go talk to the floor away from the table. He probably won't do anything, but he may give you a food comp or something. Getting pissed at a dealer is just a form of tilt at somebody that you can't really do anything significant to.

I find that its always worth a big scene when a dealer is being a [censored] moron. Obviously this guy has no sense of decorum. If I were at the table when this went down I would do my best not only to defend the OP, but ridicule every mistake the dealer made during that down. I cant stand the idea of a dealer making a casino enviroment more intimidating than it already is for novice players. Not saying OP is a novice, but this is typically who gets singled out in these situations. Sometimes its for the good of the game, but it should be done nicely and with respect. If it is done otherwise in my game then not only does the dealer not get tipped, but those mistake that I used to let slide I make huge production over during that down. Sometimes humiliation is the only way to put the a-holes in their place.

Only have a sec...

Redfisher, I agree with you. It could be because of my personality but I just don't like to get involved with confrontations, especially when I don't think it's going to do any good.

Mitch, I understand your point of view, but it's just not how I handle situations like this. I also know that when people start hammering the dealer like you described the whole table goes into lock down mode and becomes MAJORLY less profitable, which it probably is already because of the dealers actions. However, I have the same initial reaction as you do, I just don't act on it. Also, as you guessed, I'm not a novice B&M player.

I also 100% agree with your comments about these dealer actions putting off new players. That is my pet peeve!

I see your point but each person has to decide how they are going to deal with other humans, in any situation, when they are being treated like a douche. Personally I would be on lifetilt if I just sat there and stewed about it rather then deal with the issue when it comes up. I don't look to confrontation as the immediate response all the time but in this situation I would want the floor and the dealer to hear my concerns and have the floor and/or dealer explain themselves to me and the table at the same time.
