This is such a stupid thing to say...What basis do you have to think that even players as good as Hellmuth and Matusow can go that deep in a tournament as big as 3,000.. Sure they are great players but they both played in the WPT this week along with tons of other big pros in a field of 400 (nevermind 3,000) and came nowhere close to the final table which features 6 players you have probably never even heard of..Posts and threads like this are pretty pointless its like me saying oh less people are gonna play in the WSOP next year so I think Ivey,Brunson,Hellmuth,Raymer,Hachem etc. will all make the final table...

Just to giove you an idea: In Sweden, the government runs the casino, and it also runs a online poker room.

The online poker room runs satellites to the casinos major tournament. However, due some law, they can not regstre the players direct, they must give the players the money and the players must pay themselves, or keep the money and not play.

During the lsat major tournament, a $3000 buy-in, only 2 out of 15 players who qualified online did play the main event, the rest kept the cash.

I know that if I won cash in lieu of a seat to the WSOP I would be too chicken to buy in for the event. I have about a $30K poker bankroll and it wouldn't seem prudent to me to put a quarter of my bankroll into one tournament.

It seems reckless to put more than 5% of your bankroll into a single tournament. So for a 10K event that would mean having a $200K poker bankroll. Granted most people aren't cautious with their poker bankrolls but I don't think too many of the past internet qualifiers have had bankrolls so large that they could buy in comfortably instead of pocketing the 10K win.

Buying in to the main event is different from other tournaments, just because it's the main event. Plenty of people are willing to spend the money just to experience it, at least once.

There's a very good chance that nothing will change as far as winning a ME seat online (accept not on Party ect...). Last year I filled out all of the registration forms myself. Bodog provided the forms but I completed the paper work myself (including providing a Harrah's players card #). Bodog then forwarded the registration to Harrah's and wired the entry fee to Harrah's.

Thompson said that the registration policy for the WSOP wasn't changed by the enactment of the UIGEA.

"There has been no change in our registration policy," he said. "We do not accept third-party registrations from online pay-to-play poker sites that do business with U.S. residents. We didn't do that in 2005 or 2006 either."

That's true for me at least. I suck at poker (and life), but I luckboxed my way to take down the Stars $162 donkament 2 weeks ago for $17K. I've already decided to set aside $12K of that win to play the 2007 WSOP ME and possibly one of the smaller buy-in NL events.

I don't care that I'm dead money, nor do I care that the $10K represents many times my total poker bankroll. I just want the experience at least once. I have a good day job and poker is just a hobby. Spending that tournament score to participate in the WSOP is +EV for me in ways other than merely monetarily.
