I think you should mix up your play here, and sometimes do exactly this. I know this isn't very helpful.

betting half pot on the turn seems terrible. Villain bet on the flop in a multiway field, so he caught part of that flop for sure. so leading the turn giving him 3:1 means you have no foldequity at all. And you are certainly behind to his range of hands tho you may be alittle ahead to his actual hand. so your bet amounts to setting the price you want for your draw, but that is only 4:1 against coming in and if it does its obvious
