Plan for learning PLO?

How do I start. I am currently winning in 1/2 NLT.
Is playing, checking out allin scenarios and thinking a litte enough?

Any elaborate ideas?

Read Slotboom. Discuss any concepts you don't understand here. Get 10K hands under your belt, post difficult hands and any further questions here. Then get 20K more hands and pretend to sound like you know what you're doing.

Reading Ciaffones book is the best start imo.

Ciaffones book is a good start, and the section in Super/System 2 is helpful. The best way to learn is to read over those books to get a general idea of what you're doing, then just play a whole lot of hands and see lots of situations, much like you probably did in learning NLHE. After that, re-read the books and you will probably get more out of them, but it will be more of a supplement to what you have experienced yourself at the tables.

Nut peddle to start. Observe some of the winning players along the way and pick up various "moves" gradually. Jumping headfirst into this forum and into various books is a bad idea imo. Learn by playing first, include other resources slowly along the way. It is a high variance game and can be very expensive if you have too much new information going through your head. I do think Cloutier's book is very good for a beginner though, it basically says to play tight and cautious. Not bad advice if you're just learning the game.

1. Read Ciaffone's Omaha Poker
2. You probably already read "Improve your poker" and "Pot Limit and No Limit Poker" both by Ciaffone also, but if you haven't than do it.
3. Start playing PLO50 for the full buy-in amount. You will probably be a winning player, but use this opportunity to make cheap mistakes, learn how to read the board and get a feel for the run-down odds. After you have won $1000, move up to PLO $100 (but you should have at least $2000 in your total BR).

You really DON'T need to read Rolf's book to win at PLO until you get to at least PLO $200. In any case, you probably won't understand the ideas in the book until after you get some experience with the game.

I read books studied the hell out of it and nutpeddled the 9 max games for like 2 minutes but 9max is boring as hell. The fun way is to get drunk and play a ton of hu play money and micro stakes hu plo with friends or whoever. Playing heads up and shorthanded where u dont care whether u win or lose will let u see a ton of hands and get lots of experience under ur belt. Its also a ton of fun cuz this is such a gambling game and u can bet like a maniac.
