HSP reruns on GSN

I just switched cable providers and started receiving GSN, so I can now watch High Stakes Poker.

I notice that GSN seems to broadcast more than one episode each week. For instance, they are broadcasting three episodes back-to-back tonight.

Is there any way to tell which rerun episodes they will be broadcasting? I checked the broadcast schedule on their website, and they don't seem to make any distinction.

Its usually a season 2, then a new episode, then a season 3 if I remember correctly. The run the seasons from start to finish in order.

It'd be real god damn nice if certain cable stations would separate new episodes from re-runs in their listings so my god damn DVR wouldn't pick up every single repeat aired. Yes, I'm talking to you, Comedy Central and GSN.

Yeah, it's annoying as hell. My DVR supposedly can record only "first run" episodes, but GSN and Comedy Central don't properly tag the episodes. At first, I was simply recording all of the episodes and deleting all but the middle episode. But then I realized it was easier to use the manual record feature and record only the middle episode.

I believe there are three major suppliers of programming guide information. Some are more accurate than others. But I don't know if any of them have access to better episode info. One of my pet peeves is that many shows on cable show every rerun of the new episode that week as new, so my DVR records them all. I only need one recording of each episode! How difficult should that be?

I really don't know who can correct this. I think it would take a significant industrywide effort to pressure program providers to give us better programming guide info.
