Unique Tournament Ideas?

I have a small poker room. We are just planning our tournament schedule now. It will offer both single table and multitable events (max 40 players). What fun gimmicky type ideas have people seen or used (bounty for example) that have been popular? Any other ideas as to a unique type or structure of tournament?

We place a bounty equal to the buy-in on the head of each of the top two winners from the prior tournament in attendance at the current tournament.

I have in the past had a prize for the best hand of the tournament. Obviously, the hand had to be shown to be awarded. I have heard of other groups having a jackpot that was carried over from tournament to tournament requiring a straight flush or quads to win it.

Have you even had a rebuy tourney?

We use a bounty every now and then. For our bounty tourneys we give everyone one bounty chip and this creates a second prize pool. For example, we might have a $30 buy-in MTT with a $5 bounty for a total of $35. You get a bounty chip that you must give to the player who busts you out. Similarly, you collect bounty chips when you bust out a player. You can never lose any of the chips you collect, just your original one. At the end of the night, players cash in their bounty chips for $5 each.

You can run a Calcutta on all the players. Basically everyone gets auctioned off. This gives people someone to cheer for once they get knocked out, and can get pretty interesting. When I played with this, we gave each player the choice of buying half of himself after he had been sold.

We have a regular rebuy/bounty game. On top of that, we have also started using a "Show Em" chip which I haven't seen used in this thread.

We don't charge for this and everyone starts with one.

Our rules for using it are as follows.

Any player still involved in a hand may pass their "Show Em" chip to another player still in the hand. This can only be done as you fold and before the next player acts after your fold.

At the end of the hand or when the player targeted leaves the hand, they must pass you their cards face down. Only players that pay the "show em" chip get to see the cards. Then the buyer mucks the cards for shuffling the next hand.

The player receiving the "show em" chip may now reuse that received chip as long as they are alive in the tournament. If they are busted, all show em chips go back to the bank.

This adds a small way to get information about players during the game.

Not seen "last longer" mentioned. It is a side-bet between a group of players. Two variations
1) each player puts in a last longer and the winner takes all.
2) first to bust out pays a last longer to each of the others that are still in.

Rebuy tournaments are the nuts... $10 rebuy T2000 chips... $5 rebuy increments gets you a T1000 units. You can rebuy if you have equal or less than T2000... so instantly can make your stack T3k, and if you get felted $15 will get you T3k, but you can also do T1k increments.
