Re: Stupid intern gets owned by boss via email
um, whats to stop the kid from lying about the date the pictures were taken? couldn't he just say that the party was a few days ago? just because photos were submitted to facebook the day after, doesn't mean the party couldn't have been that weekend or something.

Unfortunately, this guy is probably going to be ok if he handles this properly. I say unfortunately because he's essentially getting off scot free after being such a raging dumbass and putting crap like that on his facebook page. [/ QUOTE ] Could you at least read the entire thread before you make your crappy posts? |

Re: Stupid intern gets owned by boss via email
a lot of people date their photos on facebook. the same people who go home and post 30 pictures from a party the same night are likely to be nitty enough to list the exact date and location.

Re: Stupid intern gets owned by boss via email
NT!,
I would not be surprised to learn that large companies are searching the Internet (including myspace and facebook) as part of the background check for new employees. If you think snooping around myspace is 'over the line' how do you classify a criminal background check? My attitude is that an individual interested in protecting his privacy should take measures to make sure to keep private stuff out of the public domain. |

[/ QUOTE ] no, i know that people usually plug your email address into searches and look for facebook / myspace profiles. i don't have a big problem with it - i think it kinda sucks but there's an easy remedy for it if you don't want to be found. what i am saying is, if you change your picture, make your profile private, block access to photos, etc, i think that ought to be enough. if i found out a company was snooping around all the profiles for my graduate program, for instance, and trying to find comments i had made or look for untagged photos of me, that would piss me off and it would probably be a company i wouldn't want to work for. in my field criminal background checks, as well as other extensive checks, are a must, and i have undergone them many times without complaint. it's the nature of the job. |

I agree with you. I'd never want to work for a company that felt that much of a need to monitor my private. Sounds too much like The Firm to me. |

Re: Stupid intern gets owned by boss via email
I counted on my interns to do actual work. When they were not there, I was inconvenienced. If I were the boss, I'd prolly have given the guy a day off on 11/1 so he could go have a good time, but would prolly fire him for telling such a stupid lie to me.
