Re: Where the !*$# is Valuetown??
In thr OP, the first "protecting your hand" hand where Hero has AA. Don't the draws get the right odds to call after your flush or did I do the quick math wrong?
Around 200 in the pot, around 50 to call is about right (Especially if you figure in the chance that the other guy might call due to the even better odds after the first caller) |

Thanks Pokey, an excellent article, as always.
Good examples and plenty of further reminders of key points for people, like me, who should have grasped them by now ... Also, kudos to Ama for the insta-sticky, good shout |

Re: Where the !*$# is Valuetown??
WRT your comment pokey, I really don't think you have to worry about metagame too much vs. 68/9s like this guy. While it's true that they're almost always playing 1 table, so they can pay attention better, they rarely stick around for more than ~100 hands, during which time you're gonna fire like 5 or 6 cbets or so, basically not enough time for them to really pick up a read if they were paying attention. I guess other players at the table might pick up on it, but people tend to pay much less attention when they're not in a hand. I'm still pretty sure you're missing out on a bit of value against someone who calls as much as this guy does.
Your comment about AA not being the nuts is spot on and something that I need to remind myself fairly often. Also, do you change the size of your cbets depending on the texture of the flop? I'll bet as little as 1/2 pot on a paired board or something really dry, and as much as pot on something drawy against people who are aware of proper drawing odds (with air and made hands) or against people who can't fold any draw (only with made hands obv) |
