Default SSNL coaching a good christmas gift?

Hey all,

I have a friend who currently struggles to win at poker. He tries very hard, and wants badly to win - but a cardrunners membership hasn't helped, and he continues to struggle.

I was considering getting a couple friends together, and proposing getting him a coach for a few hours or something, since it may be the only learning tool that will help him progress.

Are there any problems with this idea? Obviously, I would do my research on who would make a good coach. The hope would be that he finds the experience useful, and continues with the caoch past the gift-given amount.

Couldn't think of the best forum for this thread, but I thought this was as good as any.

Regards

I'd be careful you don't insult your friend by giving him this gift. Kind of like giving yur wife a membership to a health club when she didn't ask for that.

I can't tell if I am being leveled by a subliminal advertisement or not.

not the same at all

one of the main requirements of playing poker is to be able to objectively assess your own game (there is no such requirement for marriage, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder)

also, lot of very good players get coaching

i think this would be an awesome gift, if one of my friends got this for me i would secks them in a very non ghey way (and if a girl friend got this for me, i'd instantly propose)

I don't think an amazing site like cardrunners would do something like this, given how good their instructors are and how cheap their membership is.

I'm sure your friend would like this. But he should be able to become a winning player at the micros with his CR membership and your help.

Maybe you should give him one of those gift vouchers on FTP, so he can move up to where they respect his raises?

I think it is a great gift.
I've always thought the best gifts are something a person would really want but may not buy for themselves.

I would not pay for it myself currently, but if my friends bought me that I would be pretty stoked.

Not really if the coach has very good results that this person wants to aspire too.

I wish coaching was available when I first started playing cash games back in the party days. Would have been sweeeettttt
