200 NL, going for river C/R with AA.
Villain is some random donk. I only have like 30 hands on him, but he seems loose/bad.

I play it exactly the same except I usually bet $26 on the flop.

I don't like c/r'ing that turn.
It makes the board a ton more drawy. You get more value out of pounding on draws since on that board texture he is wayyyyyy more likely to check behind turn. |

Re: 200 NL, going for river C/R with AA.
if he's aggressive enough this play is good, but i wouldn't say its standard.
also.... consider overbet pushing to make it look like a bluff if you think he makes hero calls. |

Sabr, I like it! One of the creative players in this forum! Is check raising that much very optimal though? What hand calls that beg check raise that you can beat? KK and QQ are going away, leaving JJ and TT as possibilities....perhaps why villan would check behind on the turn....thinking you missed ak and hoping you hit or bluff river.

Is check raising that much very optimal though? [/ QUOTE ] I think on the river c/r is optimal. If I value bet the river, I would expect a ton of 1-pair hands to call me (J-x, T-x, 99, 8-x), putting me on AK. However, if I check, he will usually bet those 1-pair hands for value because it looks like I don't have anything. I then shove and get more value when they call. Also, KK and QQ would usually just raise the flop against me and stack off. River raise isn't as big as I made it look like. That bet I made covered him by a lot already... |
