Checks After PFR
Villain is 71/33/1.8
I've been giving "Concept No. 17" in TAP a run for it's money. "If your preflop raise is called behind you, check a lot of flops." I would like to hear what you think about the spot I picked to do it and how/if you've been applying this concept. There is no particular info that is relevant besides the fact that I've been CB'ing my usual majority of the time. Re: Checks After PFR
The post says $1 BB but further down it says BB calls $1.50 more from a raise to $2. What are the stakes?
I'm not sure I like this raise PF, but whatever. |

Re: Checks After PFR
I don't like that flop check on that flop vs. that villain. Better to charge the flush draw and perhaps get called by a K.
That concept really applies to multiway flops and drawless flops. |

.25/.50
Not too concerned with the preflop action. What do you think about the flop check? |

Re: Checks After PFR
Sklansky means if it's called by somebody with position on you, then check a lot of flops.

Re: Checks After PFR
Against the K i'm not too concerned where I get the bet in...flop or turn. It's not like if I bet and get called on the flop I'm going to continue building the pot on the turn with my 7 kicker. I will most likely check behind to keep the pot small.
I think the only significant virtue of betting this flop is charging the flush draw...which could be reason enough to pass on the flop-check this time around. |

Re: Checks After PFR
Well...I thought about this but when you raise preflop your positional advantage isn't as informative on the flop as it is on further streets. It is a pretty standard move to check raise a preflop raiser that CB's regularly. So I think this concept applies to both being in position and OOP since you don't gain much info when villain checks to pf raiser.
What do you think? |

Re: Checks After PFR
Well, I like that you are considering checking behind on this flop. It's not a horrible play at all against a normal player. 2-flush though should lean you towards a bet. And against this villian, you have to be betting.

Re: Checks After PFR
What makes this villain a 'must-bet' situation? I understand that since he is playing a very wide range of hands I could get value from a weak ace but....I'm the one with the weak ace. So shouldn't I be trying to control the pot? If I bet and get called on the flop...what's my plan when I get checked to on the turn?

Re: Checks After PFR
you're often betting for value against villians of this nature. so take every shot.
