Re: A river overbet shove vs a solid regular LAG
hardly anyone at 100nl will turn Jx into a bluff here, villain would know that.
also, hardly any tag at 100nl would call with an off-suit connector to a raise, villain would know that too. nvm missed their history. |

Re: A river overbet shove vs a solid regular LAG
why the hell would i EVVVER bluff with Jx here? so i can fold out exactly AA/QQ?
and how do i have any of the other hands you mention given PF? QsTx/TsQx??? my actual hand is like the bare bottom of my range in that position vs an UTG raise, even given our history. but if i somehow did have one of those, calling the turn would be pretty bad with any of them, because i have really bad reverse implied odds vs higher flush draws/made boats/etc. edit - Soldier beat me to it. |

Re: A river overbet shove vs a solid regular LAG
anyway fo tthose hat care, villain timed down to 2, and finally slowrolled me with AK. i think he mustve been playing too many tables and just [censored] up with his river check, because i think he knows checking the river is really bad with the nuts here, when i can easily have a hand that will pay off a shove, but will almost NEVER bet myself with worse.
and i think if the turn was the K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] instead of [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] then i get looked up very often by like any 1 pair hand or better that he can have here... agree? |

Re: A river overbet shove vs a solid regular LAG
I don't like flop/turn but I think river shove is good. Only hand he'll check that might call and you'll lose to is JJ, he'll make some bad calls with other worse hands and I doubt he ever checks a K here.
I really don't see why people hate this shove tbh, I mean we're basically always ahead and we want to look bluffy so why not shove, I think a smaller bet looks more for value even if it does give him better odds. |

Re: A river overbet shove vs a solid regular LAG
only read a couple of the notes you wrote, but i saw you saying call preflop is bad and flop call is standard.
My views are pretty much exact opposite of this. |

Re: A river overbet shove vs a solid regular LAG
[ QUOTE ]
i thought the only way i would get ANY worse hands to pay me off is too look as fishy as possible, and i felt like i was almost always ahead here. [/ QUOTE ] The hand you actually called down to the river is not much better than air, it's at least a hand you could turn into a bluff on the river. Except you happened to hit the river. Given that you played 87s like this, it seems like you could play 99/77-22 the same way and turn them into a bluff on the river. However, given history villain will/should probably bet Kx on the river. I like your push given history. All streets up until the river sucks though. |
