Just as an aside, this thread made me think about the bottom ends of straight flushes, and if it is ever really fair to call such a things "idiot ends" (since straight flushes are afterall such strong hands, in a vacuum).

Why not? If you get raised, fold. Check/calling is pretty much ensuring you only get action from the nuts.

Why would he call the turn with a set or Ks? I realize IRL he had one but "hero vomits" is right. Since you have the As, there is no hand value betting or calling on the river.
