i still think had i won at stakes higher than 2/4 dan woulda expected half the profit. I assumed i was going to give him half the profit anyways. This was my understanding of the whole thing.

So you had an understanding of the situation without asking him first?

How many times will people get rolled before they learn to keep their money to themselves or atleast set up some sort of written contract beforehand?

fwiw, I've loaned corbin money before and he's paid me back. it's never been a problem getting in contact with him or whatever, and he's always been as prompt as i needed him to be. i never even thought about a stake, because i dont' know him that well, but never had problems with loaning him money before.

if dan went to him and tried to stake him, and there were not V clear terms that it was to be strictly 2/4, then this isn't as clear as you guys make it out to be.

he said start with 2/4 and if i was doing ok that i can move up.

Let me get this straight. You start with 4k and win 1.3k playing 2/4. Now you feel strong enough to beat the world so you move up to 25/50 with a few k and lose(irrelevant if you made good decisions at the table or not). Sounds like awesome bankroll management skills. Can I stake you please?I will give you 60% of the profits. Just tell me when and where to sign up.
P.S. I will give you 4k to start and after you win 1k you can go to 25/50 with one full buy in and give it a shot.

I know both of these guys to some extent, since KingDan is staking me at the moment and I talk to tcorb from time to time.

Dan, you're a good guy, but I definitely feel that when making staking arrangements with people you don't know all that well you should hammer down the terms a lot more strictly. I didn't do anything to [censored] you over (and wouldn't), but this sort of thing demonstrates where problems may lie.

Corb is a nice guy. I wouldn't stake my life (or roll ) on it, but I'm pretty sure he's not maliciously taking Dan's money here. I also know the feeling of losing someone else's money and feeling bad about it... fortunatly I've stopped running so horribly bad but this is why you shouldn't stake someone you don't know without everything explicitly laid out, because even the best intentions can lead to some unfortunate outcomes.

Dan and I talk every few days about how things are going and when I should be taking shots at what levels, and this works fine since I know more or less what he expects and I'm not gonna be sitting at 10/20 or somethinga anytime soon, but the point is that for all of you thinking about staking, this may not cut it.

FWIW, I'm sure corb would have paid back 50/50 if he had won, so I think the easy way to resolve this is to give him some money for makeback and wait till he makes back the $4000. Anything after that, discuss it again and this time hammer out the terms.

to all... Yes I shoulda played 2/4 ... I feel if he did the "makeup" or w/e its called i could make the 4k back at 2/4 like he wanted in a few days tops.

I felt it was +ev in the 5/10 game even way underrolled . Didn't work out. . I will admit it was stupid to play in the 25/50 games even though I got money in well... that is variance of shortstacking i guess.

Regarding true's post. Yes i strongly believe dan would have expected half the profit from the 5/10 and 25/50 game if in fact i did win.

I darn sure hope he would have expected half the profit from the 5/10 and 25/50 game because it sounds like he is going to get ALL the losses. They call this a flimflam where I come from.
