I know nobody mentioned desserts yet, but I often bring sweets to events like this. I don't usually want to make a whole batch brownies at home, because then I ... eat a whole batch of brownies. Having the occasion to dump the goods at a friends' house is my chance to bake desserts I wouldn't otherwise.

Obviously I stick with desserts that can be eaten with the fingers and are easily piled, so cookies and brownies are the easy options.

teriyaki meatballs.
use frozen meatballs from trader joe's, costco, whatever. the small ones are the best
teri sauce: 1c sugar, 1 c rice vinegar, 1 c soy sauce. grate one finger of ginger into this, and add one clove crushed garlic. heat until foams on top, but don't let it boil. turn down heat at this point. mix one tbsp corn starch with equal amount of cold h2o. stir this into the sauce and bring to a boil to thicken.
meanwhile, heat the meatballs halfway in the microwave. finish in a skillet and pour the sauce over them.
done

extreeeeemely easy app.
pour a decent amount of parmesean cheese (from the can) into a bowl and mix in very little amounts of mayo until the mixture is just on the damp side of bone dry. add some diced green onion, spread on some good bread, and toast under the broiler until they are bubbly golden brown.

Nothing super fancy and definately not a main course, but hits a certain spot.

Gotta have hot wings, Buffalo style.

[/ QUOTE ]

In Buffalo, wings are somewhat of a standard at most Superbowl parties. Not sure if too many people have heard of it (and I don't have the recipe), but Chicken Wing Dip is outstanding. Its a form of hot, pulled chicken in a melted cheese + sour cream dip.
