Default Foxwoods pre-flop betting (1/2)

Seems absolutely out of control. Instead of standard 3-4 BB raises in the 1/2 games, the standard is usually 12 or 17 at Foxwoods. Is this standard of most live 1/2 games or is Foxwoods "special"?

I've found it to be pretty much the norm in AC.

My friend told me that the PF raises are pretty much in the same ballpark (12-17) at the 2/5 games he plays at foxwoods. Is this also standard?

No, PFRs at 2/5 are usually 20-35.

Pretty standard. Glad to hear nothing's changed since I left the Northeast.

Of course this is a great thing. For every speculative hand that you have to muck if you bought in for the $100 (or did they up the max? I seem to remember they did) you'll make a fortune on your really good hands. And for that matter you can probably play 33 for $15 with a $100 stack if you're closing the action and four others have already called the raise.

It's standard in live games, but it's not the bet sizing that's ridiculous, what's ridiculous is that $10-$17 is NECCESSARY because there is simply no other way to isolate pre. Normal raises will get half the table calling and leave you in no mans land. Some places, you can get away with $8, but usually $12 is the minimum requirement to have a shot at getting the pot 3 way or less and attaching hand ranges to your opponents.
