Default Getting Student Loans w/out a cosigner

So i know its a really awful idea to get student loans without a cosigner but my parents want me to pay for college on my own for some reason, is this even possible? I know there are loans targeted towards undergrads that don't require a cosigner like this
but there are still certain credit requirements, should i just tell my parents they are out of their mind and that their idea won't work or is it actually possible to get 180k+ in college loans with no cosigner?

I got all my college loans without a cosigner. It's possible if your credit is good, but your rates will definitely be worse than if you did have one.

Where on earth are you spending $180k as an undergrad??

FWIW, I got all my loans w/o a cosigner and all at 6% or less.

My undergrad cost more than 180k. Good schools are expensive.

Without any credit history, there is no chance you'll be able to take out private loans without a co-signer. You can probably still get Stafford loans and the like, but that won't cover very much.

I think if i got around 100k my parents would be alright with spotting me the other 80k, is this a reasonable amount? How much $$ should i be expecting? Btw the school is Yale.

You get like 20 a year Stafford which aren't credit based. So you need 20 private, assuming you can't get any grants or scholarships. That'll still be pretty hard with no credit, but try to build some credit and eat some crappy interest rates and you'll do OK.

that's a really stupid situation.
If your parents can afford it, I highly reccomend you work out a solution that doesn't involve student loans. Nothing sucks more than having to dig yourself out of a hole that deep... so demotivating. Unless you got some sick job ligned up

Yale is great, but we're talking about undergrad here. Do your bachelor's at a cheaper school, do really well, spend 180 to go to Yale for grad school so you might actually have a prayer of paying it back.
