Re: Sluss\'s AFC Rankings
[ QUOTE ]
lol @ everyone who ranks the Colts so high [/ QUOTE ] That's retarded. Call me a homer fanboy, but IMO they're #1 with an improved defense, and the Pats, are like a 1.25 simply because they haven't beaten the Colts recently and I'm not willing to drop an improved, defending SB champ until they prove they're no longer the team to beat. They completely shut down the best offense in the NFC, one of the best offenses in the NFL. I'd call that an accomplishment. And, I think the Saints are better than the Jets, so in two dominating performances, the one over the better team is worth more to me. Also...please tell me "looked like they knew what plays the Jets were running" was intentional, OP. Please. |

Re: Sluss\'s AFC Rankings
How can Jacksonville be ahead of Tennesee?
Jacksonville lost their last 3 games last year, including a 7 point loss to Tennesee. Tennesee won 6 of their last 7 games last year. Both finished at 8-8, but Tennessee was clearly a different team once VY took over. Tennesee went to Jacksonville and beat them in week 1. What am I missing here? |

Re: Sluss\'s AFC Rankings
[ QUOTE ]
Edge34 = homer fanboy. [/ QUOTE ] I at least have some reason to my thoughts. Plus, my fanboyism is nowhere near as strong as that of the collective Pats Nation. Seriously - the same dominant offense, a young and apparently improved defense that didn't allow a single offensive TD to one of the most explosive offenses in football, and the defending SB champs. If this described the Patriots, not one person would EVER call them #2. But because its Indy and Indy fans aren't as ridiculously over the top with the support of their team (which isn't inherently a bad thing), they're #2. Seriously, if the Pats keep this up and the Colts start showing some flaws, instant #1 in my book. But I'm not willing to give a defense that has to show its age some time and a potential time bomb in Randy Moss the Lombardi Trophy after week 1. This isn't just fanboying, this is me actually debating how close 1 and 2 are with the Pats and Colts. |

Re: Sluss\'s AFC Rankings
Colts are essentially a stone lock if Manning is healthy to make playoffs every year. Good amount of the time they even have a bye week. That alone is huge. Just need to play well in two or three games then own the NFC. From what I gather the only way to rattle Manning into bad plays is to just dominate his O-Line physically. When their defense shows up and plays above average other teams are in bad shape. Pats have not beat them what like 5 times in a row?

This year's pats are way, way better than 2005/2006 Patriots.

Re: Sluss\'s AFC Rankings (Week 1)
Nice rankings, good explanations. I would suggest leaving Indianapolis at #1 until proven otherwise. I echo the sentiments of other posters who like Pittsburgh up at #4, and Tennessee over Jacksonville.
