AA Early in the Foxwoods 2K
My starting table this morning was ridiculous: one guy with a WSOP bracelet (from 1974, not sure which event, but he was a good NLHE player- Mike Seca (sp?) was his name), guy who won two prelim events and final tabled the main event at Foxwoods last year, three other pros who are talking about a 50/100 NLHE game they all played together at Commerce recently, and a few other solid players. There's only one weak spot at the table, but he's pretty weak, way too loose and aggressive.
7K starting stacks, I have a very tight image, as does the entire table really. Blinds 25/50, soft spot limps UTG, last year's final tabler limps, internet pro limps, I make it 300 with AA on the button. Soft spot folds, the other two call. Flop 883r. Check, internet pro bets 350, I make it 1000, othr guy folds, IP calls. Turn 6r. Check, check. River 4, he bets 2700, which is basically pot. We both have a little over 5K. I ...? |

foucault,
i think the answer to this question depends on why you raised the flop. |

Re: AA Early in the Foxwoods 2K
Well we certainly aren't trying to (nor able to) make a better hand fold.
So is there value to raising (shoving) the river? Will he call with a worse hand? I think so. So I say shove. |

Re: AA Early in the Foxwoods 2K
Does he lead the flop with trips?
Why does he check that turn when/if he is betting the flop with an 8? This looks like a pocket pair to me. I'm really unsure though and the flop bet really makes me wonder what is going on. Edit: In a desperation move, I'd probably call just because I am really unsure and I want to see what he is playing. I think I'd be willing to pay for that with AA. |

A push will not get a better hand to fold, and you are usually behind if called. I would flat call the flop, but the raise may be better. |

Re: AA Early in the Foxwoods 2K
the flop bet looks like a pp 99-55, I'm thinkin he does not have an 8, he called your raise, he didn't rr. maybe he put you on big ace. the river bet seems like a block bet . I would have to call. althought I wouldn't be surprised to see 66 in his hand.

foucault, i think the answer to this question depends on why you raised the flop. [/ QUOTE ] After re-reading the OP and this (the first time I thought it said pre-flop instead of flop), I'd just call on the river. It seems that he should "know" you have an over-pair. |
