I had 20 reels of old 8mm film converted to DVD for my parents this year. The film (1963-1981) had been sitting in a closet, unwatched for 20 years because the projector they had was broken. I stole the box of film over the summer without their knowledge so it would be a surprise. There are 7 kids in my family and all were there to watch the movies after the gift exchange. The look on my parents faces watching the films was priceless and the best gift I've ever given them. It cost about $1000 to convert to DVD.

I drew my mom a picture of her dead cat that she loved.
She cried, it was awesome. Although the only mistake I made was giving it to her before my sister gave her gift... I could tell it pissed my sister off since she didn't have an equally emotional gift to give. I plan on giving my dad some books or DVD's.

Now if I gave the picture to anyone else they would probably just be like "meh, whatever". That's what makes it awesome. I put thought into my gift! Beat that! I did feel genuinely bad for stealing the christmas thunder though. I hate the spotlight. :/
