easiest way to access web sites that IP block US?
What's the easiest way to access web sites that IP block the US? I don't need to play poker on overseas sites, just visit some web sites. I need access to non-US poker sites periodically to maintain some information on them. E.g. a Firefox extension which could switch between regular and non-US proxy access at the push of a button would be good, if it exists. I should appear to be coming from a non-US ISP, perhaps an EU country is best.

There are alot of options, some maybe easier than the two I'll suggest, but they are what I'm most familiar with.
Tor would probably be a good option. http://tor.eff.org/ An easier but usually slower option would be Torpark, which is a lite version of Firefox with Tor built into it. Both options are http://www.torrify.com/software_torpark.html |

I would personally set up a VPN for any sensitive data from you. If it's just browsing with no passwords of any kind, go to proxy.org and select one from the list until you find one that works.

For best results you may want to check lists like this:
http://www.publicproxyservers.com/ You will probably have to go all the way through the list to find anything fast. The problem with proxy.org is that you can't access all parts of all sites with 99.9999% of those proxies. |

Re: easiest way to access web sites that IP block US?
I used the instructions here to set up Firefox to use a European proxy server. Unfortunately, I can't access any web sites. I get the following message in my browser:
Problem Report Access denied to system because of URL Filter Configuration, while attempting to retrieve the URL: http://technicalbliss.blogspot.com/2...-firefox.html. Message ID FILTER_DENIED Problem Description Your system was configured to deny access to this URL. Possible Problem Cause Request denied, as specified in the local filter list configuration. Possible Solution Contact your network support team if this problem persists. Any idea what the problem is? |
