Dunno, I'm going to Vegas.

Looks like the 15 is open...how bad is traffic on Fridays heading towards LV?

[/ QUOTE ]

Really bad. Go really early if you can.

[/ QUOTE ]

What do you mean by "really early"? Like leave at noon or leave at 10 am?

[/ QUOTE ]

5am

Not really, that's how I do it, but I'm old and have no problem taking off that early, in fact that's how I prefer it. Makes for a quick, easy drive, gets me into Vegas mid morning.

But in general, I think it's one of those "the earlier the better" things. I haven't driven a Friday afternoon to Vegas in years because, well, it sucks!

There exists the minor issue of work that needs to be taken care of should I choose to head out that early. How bad is the drive from LA? Worse than from SD?

Definitely try to leave by noon. You'll hit traffic in the Inland Empire, but it won't be that bad. If you leave after 1 pm, the traffic in the IE will be horrendous - there will be jams at every merge (15/91, 15/10, etc.)

Gotcha. Looks like the current plan is to drive up to LA tonight and ride with some friends that are also going so I can still take care of work on my laptop during the drive tomorrow(<3 my aircard).

I-5 is open from OC to San Diego right? Someone was telling me junk about how it's still closed at pendleton.

Also, if it's usually a 1 hr drive for me and I leave Irvine at 4pm, is traffic going to suck? Or will it be ok b/c no one in the right mind would be driving to SD?

I have a few coworkers that live in HB and they said that the 5 was open the whole way. This was Thursday though and I don't know if the fire has changed anything since.
