Default live £50 MTT AKo entire table limped.....

2nd level of a 45 person £50 MTT, starting stack 8k.

at this point i have 10.8k.

effective stacks are still ~8k. 9 players at the table with one semi shorty with 5.6kish. No real reads at this point, MP 2 is a winning reg i know quite well who usually plays relatively taggish. blinds t100-t200.

Hero is sb with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

utg open limps, as does the rest of the table and comes to me and raise to t1900. 4 folds to MP who makes it 5.2k to go??

hero snapshoves ? flatcalls? pre-flop raise ok or should i have just shoved?

thing that confuses me about this hand is that MP2 is NOT a donk. i have played very many hands live with this person and don't understand his line at all. why didn't he shove? IDK.

Maybe 88-1010 something like that? He limps for set value first time around, but then decieded that he's ahead of your range because you raised so big like you were afraid of too many limpers?

I can't seem anyone decent limping AA or KK in MP1, but then again, his whole line doesn't make me think he's half decent.

Call and push the flop.

Incidently, this definately belongs in SSMTT. I hope the mods move it.

I push here. We're doing well against his range as we can confidently take QQ+ out of the equation. He probably thinks you're squeezing the limpers and wants to scare you back.

Push him all-in and race.

So 7 people limped to you initially and there was 1700 in the pot...I would have just shoved then. I agree with betgo, I'd call then shove any flop, because his likely range is mid pairs and he may give you credit for a Q on the flop or something.

I don't really like this. I think AK is the worse hand to do a stop and go with, because the only flop where we can get any sort of advantage over a straight push is one with a queen. Its really hard to get a worse hand to fold on the flop if we have AK

If an ace or king hits, we fold out all the lower pairs we beat. If not A K or Q hit, we just get called and are putting the rest of our money in with the worse hand.

If no high cards hit, we sometimes fold out high card hands who we are ahead of (unlikely in this particular situation though I know)

Come on soulman, its not as simple as this, so dont give us one liners like this.

What does calling and pushing the flop achieve? What hands are you going to get to fold that you are ahead of?

I like a shove instead of a raise PF

I think MP is playing 66 - 1010, calling for set value as jammy dodga said.

If we shove now were most likely flipping.

Assuming we stop and go we'll have ~3k to shove the flop with into a ~12k pot. That will give the villian 5:1 when we shove. I reckon he'll fold if theres 2 over cards to his pair but call if there's only one. So I reckon we're getting paid off if we hit our A or K, or theres two 10,J,Q on the flop. Worst scenario is hitting both our A and K as were very unlikely to get payed off.

I prefer calling PF and shoving the turn, even if we miss and get called we still have ~22% chance to win the hand iirc.
