OP, search and read on continuation bet. It's the bet you failed to make here.

Basically, it is often best to bet first-in again on the flop if you were the last preflop raiser whether you hit the flop or not.

It is often for value, your opponents also miss ~2/3 of their flops. Even if they hit, you may be able represent a better hand and get folds from weak or marginal made hands (e.g. K84 board and you have AJ, they may fold 8x, 77-55, etc here).


If the flop is very coordinated and you have my opponents it maybe wise to skip the continuation bet.
