Are there any sites that offer (free) rankings for players in each category? Something that would be quick and easy to check out during a draft?

It always depends somewhat on your tea. I think Alston is slightly better than Law right now, but with less potential.

(edit: LOL I compared these exact two players like five posts up)

Had my draft last night. Public yahoo "competitive" league, 12 teams, head-to-head, 9 categories (FG%, FT%, 3PT, PTS, REB, AST, STL, BLK, TO). Here's what I ended up with:

PG - Gilbert Arenas
SG - Cuttino Mobley
G - Leandro Barbosa
SF - Caron Butler
PF - Antawn Jamison
F - Gerald Wallace
C - Al Harrington
C - Andrea Bargnani
Util - Andres Nocioni
Util - Hedo Turkoglu
Bench - Brad Miller
Bench - Jorge Garbajosa
Bench - Jamaal Tinsley

Now to my question. I got Barbosa in the 5th round, which I thought was a steal. He's a top 30 player with these categories unless he loses a lot of playing time somehow. After the draft, somebody offered me a straight up trade of Chris Paul for Barbosa. He drafted Paul in the 2nd round so I'm a bit baffled here. Is this is a no-brainer and I should just take it before he changes his mind? Or should I try to get more out of him since he obviously wants Barbosa badly? The extra assists from Paul would be nice but I'm fairly solid there already.. giving up some 3PT would be ok since I'm likely way ahead of most teams there. If I had Paul I could also get rid of Tinsley and pick up some high FG% guy for subbing. Also when I picked Barbosa I thought he was eligible at both PG/SG but they actually have him at only PG. Either way, I'm in a good situation here but not sure what the optimal move is.

Bargnani and Harrington as centers is pretty frickin' whack.

I'd pull the trigger on that trade.

Please help a Newb.

I made a mistake drafting and ended up with Chris Wilcox as one of my starting centers. The only other C eligible player I have on my bench is Elton Brand.

Would you dump Chris Duhon for Eddie Curry or Shaq?

My other guards (play three guards) are Baron Davis, Kevin Durant, Josh Smith, and JR Smith. Mike Dunleavey and Charlie Bell are my Util guys right now who have SG eligibility.

Standard 9 category scoring, daily H2H league.

Thanks,
Ken

Yeah I wouldn't expect Duhon to do much.

Neither big guy is all that exciting but will work if you need a center although they kill you in some cats. (FT% especially)
I would go for Curry before Shaq, Shaq is old and injured all the time.

mogwai- YES. paul should provide top10-15 value. barbosa 25-30 at best IMO. accept before he rescinds and tweak your team around it.

Ken_AA- wilcox is significantly better than curry and shaq. if you're giving up on any certain categories, both curry and shaq will give you very good value in points, rebounds and FG%. they both obviously hurt in FT% a lot, and turnovers to some extent. curry has more value, unless you're definitely punting certain categories.
