It's not. I've decided to write some more about this, but now I'll add sourced. The effects of chewing gum on the brains have been known for several years now. chewing gum will activate your brain, improve your memory and concentration.

See here for an article written in 2002. It's from www.newscientist.

For more recent information check the health claims on the wikipedia on chewing gum com

has this been through a large clinical trial? also, why doesnt this get employed by the school systems? kids where i come from can get in trouble for chewing gum in class.

"Chewing gum has also been identified with improved memory. UK psychologists found that people who chewed throughout tests of both long-term and short-term memory produced significantly better scores than people who did not. But gum chewing did not boost memory-linked reaction times, used as a measure of attention. Subjects who chewed gum scored 25% higher than the control group on immediate word recall tests, and 36% higher on delayed word recall tests. Scientists point to three, non-mutually exclusive reasons, the simplest of which attributes the higher scores to the gum-chewers' increased heart rate (and, by extension, increased blood flow to the brain).[9]"

Now come the hell on....this is not a real trial. baseline imbalances and the inability to blind the treatment to the patients alone could account for slight differences in outcome.

This is no different than a claim about a diet or vitamin program, which are not currently regulated carefully by the FDA (but should be).

I don't know how I got this started.

A good example is the idiot I am playing right now. Takes his time betting, calling, raising. I usually just let the clock run against them. This angle doesn't work against me, though, it makes my heart beat increase making me a better player.

I just tried 2 tabling. If I didn't suck-out like a chump on one, I would have lost on both.

So, one table 4-ever in HU.

Interesting that FR, 6-max, I can 6 table no prob.

What can I tell you? I am not part of the High IQ Club and I am a maniac. Even if I played uber-tight, I would not be able to play HU. Maybe I don't know the basics that well and I think way to hard.

I JUST DON'T KNOW WHY

Whether chewing gum is good or not for your consentration if you chew it for 30 minutes, it certainly is not for long sessions as your jaw-muscles will become so tired that you canīt think of anything except your painful chewing.

It would be like playing when you have to go so badly that you are almost pissing your pants.

I say this as someone who hasn't contributed to this forum yet (I plan to, but so much more effort is necessary making hand posts in this forum explaining history and metagame that I've never gotten around to it), and I don't mean to tell you guys what to discuss in your own forum, but these threads kind of spoon feed lurkers. Just something to consider.
