Default Could anyone in the world have lost less with these pocket kings?

Live 4/8 at the Tropicana, 10 handed.

I am on the big blind with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
8 people limp, I check!

Flop comes T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB checks, I check, fish to my left bets, 3 folds, somewhat impressive TAG girl calls, 3 folds, I reluctantly call.

Turn is J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
I check, fish bets, TAG girl raises, I muck.

Fish calls her down and she tables ATo.

Now let me just say, normally I would raise kings pre-flop from any position but I wasn't really myself at the time for some reason, and I kept thinking about the part of SSHE that discusses keeping the pot small to make it easier to take down later. Obviously a pre-flop raise would've been called 8 ways and then I would've revealed the strength of my hand and been OOP with attention on me each round after. The TAG chick probably would've sucked way more out of me than she got. So was this an ok time to just check and see how the flop looked for me? I'm not totally sure, but I think I might just be proud of myself for the way I handled it.

Nope, you raise it because you stand to win more than your fair share. You should be delighted to hold pocket kings in a raised 9-way pot. You should be ashamed of yourself for holding pocket kings in a 9-way unraised pot.

Would you have posted this if the flop had been T63? What would the title have been? "Could anyone in the world have won less with these pocket kings?"

Ignoring results, raise PF and raise this flop

Preflop is a crime against humanity. (You secretly kill puppies in your spare time right?)

Flop and turn are played pretty well.

You could have lost less if you didn't call the flop.

Given that many B&M fish will overcall this flop with things like 87o, but suddenly turn into reasonable players if you raise, I don't think the flop call is bad.

Hope you live in Europe.

He asked if anyone could lose less than he lost. I was just saying (sarcastically) that he could have just folded the flop.

I'd venture to say that 95% of the readers would r/rr, b, b/c,c/c.

OP is so good at hand reading and flop forcasting that he saved himself money by not raising pre-flop. I'm just not there yet.

Poboys, i'm sorry i accidentally clicked the reply button on your post. I was not meaning to respond to your post, but instead to the OP.

I did get your sarcasm, btw. Good stuff.

And i don't live in Europe. But i still need a drink after seeing a KK check pf.

It would take a fortuitous flop for KK to hold up against 8 people. The +EV is not as good as some of you suspect. In a 9-way pot, it's only slightly better than medium suited connectors. If I raise pre-flop, then anyone who flops a better hand will undoubtedly make a bundle off me because they'll have position on me. Anyone who makes a mediocre hand will be more likely to chase and draw out because I made the pot so much bigger with my PFR. If the flop had been safer, my chances of winning it unimproved would've been greater since I didn't bloat the pot.
