Did I take the right desicion????

I was at a live tournament last night, 16 players left, 11 places paid....

My stack was 5100 chips on the BB(600), a large stack in the middle raises to 3000, folds to me and I had AK off, I was about 8th in chips, I figured he had a big pair, but my thinking was that I needed to double again to have a chance in the tourny, I re-raise him all in, and instacalls, shows JJ and I didn't pair…..

That was a race I was willing to take in order to win the tournament, but when I turned my hand my friend who was tailing me, tells me what a horrible decision I made.....

Anyway, I just want to hear some thoughts for the next time. Online I would do that EVERY time, but, I can start the next tourny in 2 minutes, last night I had to go home............

I made the desicion, and was ok with the outcome , But my friend told me I was wrong.... If my friend doesn't argue with me, I would not be still thinking about it...
