I think you're making a mistake by concentrating risk.

2-3 years isn't that long. Also I would assume (aka have done no research) that there is a lot of uncertainty due to the fact that they are closing the Michigan offices.

When I make a long term investment I'm thinking more like 20 years, not 2...

That said, I think you could find a better company to buy than PFE. Please give us some reasons why you think this company is significantly better than many other companies you potentially purchase. ( You might have to do some actual research in order to understand why this is NOT the right company for you to buy )

hint: check out their earnings growth over the past few years to begin with...

I like PFE a lot. At one time held about 9000 shares. Now only holding about 800. Was up about 10K on the 800 shares, but lost it all back over the past two weeks.

If PFE drops a bit more, i might buy some options.

Also looking at DELL. But am worried about the SEC inquiry.

well i know that 2-3 years isnt this long. But i am just 19 years old so maybe it is much time for me.
Well, i just need a stock in the pharma sector.
And i thougt (and still think) that pfizer is one of the best.

Or do you have any other suggestions?

Mike

Pfizer just lost patent for Zithromax. Pfizer will lose patent for Lipitor in 2010. There follow up to Lipitor was pulled during clinical trials because it did not perform better than Lipitor. Lipitor makes up a huge portion of it's profit. They spend too much money on advertising and have very few drugs in the pipeline in the future. Personally, I feel like the pharmaceuctical companies are investing in the present and not in the future.

I'm a PharmD candidate, and while obviously I don't know how this company is going to end up, I think nearly all the pharmaceutical companies are just pushing overpriced drugs that are barely better than the classics. I would personally never invest in them because of how skeptical I am about them.

hmm the thing is that i have already some Pfizer stocks.
What would u guys do with it.
I bought them at about 26$ and now they are at 24,74 USD.

Maybe i should wait until they go up a lil bit and then sell them to invest in some other sectors.
What do u think about it?

Or in which sector should i invest, i have the financial sector (lloyds, RBS), i have hennes & mauritz(clothes), i have asia power (energy), daimlerchrysler (cars) and some telecommunication stocks.
In which other sector do u think i should invest?
I would be glad to get some help because i am relatively new to stock, i am trading since September 2005.

Thanks, Mike

Maybe instead of sectors you should concentrate more on asset class, as this is what defines diversity. If it is individual stocks that you are trading, then asset class isnt as important but then there are separate things to consider.

Are you trying to diversify with ind. stocks? this is even a more tricky scenario.....more info needed
