With regard to the river bet as played - don't assume an unknown knows about showdown value. At this level a lot of donks will bet their 88 or w/e just because they assume they have the best hand now, not thinking about what value there is in the bet. We only have to be right 25% of the time here...

I think bet-folding is better than c-c here.

I am assuming you are referring to the river.

Given that the pot is $96 and I have ~ $55 left, what amount would you recommend betting on the river so that I can fold to a river raise and not be pot committed?

Huh, didn't look at stack sizes. In that case, I guess just open push or c/f. C-c isn't good because there's not much for him to bluff with. As Jay says, maybe he'll bet 88 for "value" but that's not much to count on.

Lol, I didn't even look at stack sizes properly either. In that case, just open shove, a lot of pp's and 9-x hands will look you up here. I hate the turn bet the more and more I look at this hand.

Given villain's stats, I doubt I will see 9x hands here too often. I think smaller PPs are likely, though, which may/should warrant a river push given my stack size.

So do I.

Normally, I'm done here.

I agree that the SBs flop overcall is scary, and I like speedlimits line of checking the turn and re-evaluating a lot better. That way, I can cheaply/easily lay down if UTG+1 bets and the SB wakes up.

At the time, I guess I was just afraid of giving a free card to something like JT.

The overcall I would generally assume represents huge strength or a stronger draw than JT. I think that had a 6 or J hit, it would be tough to continue going forward in the hand. If UTG+1 takes the impetus if you turn check, then you're in great position to make a decision.

I haven't been called a nit in a while.

I usually don't end up posting results, but UTG+1 ended up showing T8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and schooled me.

Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($13, 3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $11, UTG+1 calls, SB calls.

Nit. Though I agree checking the turn is best here looking back.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you check the turn what river cards/bet sizes are you calling?
