then why did you call 4th?

[/ QUOTE ]

Cuz OP has a 4-outer on the turn (not a 2-outer).

OMG I am so blind. That was as plain as day too.

Frond - your getting the right implied odds to call pair one of your cards. My bad, I saw the hand wrong.

Well, I am a confirmed showdown monkey and fairly tight, so I'm not usually worried about getting bluffed off. If I go to the river my hand is more often than not the best.

Yea I figured a call on with my 4er was cool.

I too am a showdown monkey most of the time.

GG-Good point as far as how did she play other hands like 1-2 pairs etc. Really passively I'd say.

If you were so sure she was drawing and connected on the flush why didn't you check behind on the turn?

Okay.

We don't know she's drawing. She could have a zillion hands on the flop worse than ours. Same for turn. Any Ace etc. is still drawing. Hell, everything but a set is drawing. We have the best hand A TON here against everyone. All she did was check call the flop, she could have no pair at this point.

That's why.

I think that there is something to say about "saving a bet" by folding here. The consideration in my mind is how much that call really costs you. Even if we consider that our villian is highly unlikely to have anything but the flush, we're still only spending a fraction of a bet to go to showdown.

Consider the situation where we decide there is only a 1 in 25 chance we are best. Our cost to call is

-1(24)+11(1)/25

or -.5

We're actually only giving up half a bet on average with only a 4% chance of having the best hand.

That said of course if the read is super solid, as in this case where the villian would never play 2 pair (A8 for instance) like this folding seems like a reasonable play. Just be careful that you don't think of it as saving a full bet in your mind, or you'll be more likely to make marginal folds in similar situations.

FGators-I didn't know until she C/R'd me on the turn. Would you check Aces up when it is checked to you on the turn? I think not.

IIRC Fgators is an NL player which would explain why he's not used to seeing people peel flops with unmentionable crap like limit B&M players see all the time.
