Default PS 60$ - AK hits top pair vs a regular

Villain is a decent regular.

I dont think I am ahead of anything and at best I am hoping for a split, too weak?

preflop is ok, flop call is okay, folding in fear of two pair/set is okay I mean he probably had KQ, 99, 66 and maybe even a AJ suited hand i like this line.

I dont think a 'decent r egular' has KQ, 66, 99, or AJ in that spot.... I would lean closer towards AA, KK, QQ or AK (with or without A of hearts) ... I think if villian knows what he is doing , he isnt double-barreling weakish bet sizes here with a hand you are ahead of - if he WAS on the flop then he just hit a queen on the turn. I think this is a good laydown

you should've raised the flop to find out where you're at

Why not do this with 44 or something? You almost certainly need to fold against a re-raise and you don't figure to get called in this spot. He is drawing to two or less outs if he folds to your raise so you are better off just letting him stab at it with JJ or AQ. Basically your hand doesn't matter when you raise (assuming you don't call a shove) so there is no point doing it with hands that have showdown value.

Hand is well played imo. The Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] is the worst card in the deck.

Raising the flop with the intention of folding to a shove is really bad IMO.

This is all villian dependant. I would need a read the dude is a winning regular to not raise the flop and call any RR. If he's a 2p2 clone this line seems ok.

interesting hand luis.

i take your line a lot and am wondering a couple of things:

1) would it be bad to just fold preflop? i mean, you call 100, and really the best you can ever do is hit TPTK, and then you can pickoff a c-bet. thats the best you can do. a winning regular is not gonna give you any more chips, and most winning regulars probably know who you are. you never stack villian. i guess you can hope for callers behind, but that can also create a problem if you get three or four of them.

2) i always call flop here vs winning regular. but i wonder if it is better to just raise. not many winning players are gonna put in any more chips without at least AK, so calling only gives a worse hand a chance to catch up. i know villian is probably only drawing to two outs most of the time if behind, but still, giving free cards when you cant extract more value on a later street is not a great idea.

idk, this always is a messy spot for me. anyone think a fold preflop is terrible?
