Default Srs monies recovery question BBV

OK so as per this thread I flipamented with a friend for debt from this guy we kinda know. The guy lives in a different state and ran up debt with us back when he actually used to win at poker, but now he sucks at it. also he used to be good friends with a good friend of ours, so we figured the debt was low risk.

Anyway since I acquired both debts, the guy owes me in excess of 10K. The debt's been running for like 1.5 years and I'm getting sick of it. The guy doesn't have any money really, but he does have valuable possessions such as a plasma tv and an (old and busted) mazda mx5. the catch is that he's married and his wife and parents dont know about the giant degen debt. ive pressured him for the money a little but hes dodged. since he lives in another state its hard for me to find out how srs he is about finding a job etc.

bbv whats my play? anything other than physically harming this guy will be considered.

Put him on a payment plan that he can afford, at least you'll get some back, just reason with the guy. He knows he owes you the money, so he shouldn't pretend like he can't do it. Even a couple hundred everymonth is better than nothing.

The obvious answer would be to flip with him for the debt, the 10K vs his car + TV. There is a 50/50 chance you actually receive something.

Have him sign up for a credit card with a $10K max limit.

Arrange an understanding with him that you may use said credit card, maximizing it out to cover his debt. You may even be able to get a cash advance from the credit card: yeah, he'll end up owing the card interest, but he ought to be owing you interest anyway, so it's a wash.

You get your money, he gets to tell the wife and family that he has an old credit debt that's gone unsettled (which may sound better to them than degen gambling markers). Everybody wins.
