El D.--one of my good friends (portland native, now living in s.korea) always bragged about the exact same thing, thus my reason for wanting to go. non stripper type stippers that are suicide girlish = slice of heaven

If you want punk rock of the punk rock, then go to Devil's Point...I was just there the other night, they also had this one chick, looked straight out of Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdome.

Union Jacks has some punk rockers, Im partial to the Union because Ive had many a good time there and strolled down to the Doug Fir a few blocks down and usually theres a decent party crowd at the small hotel there. Theres a smaller place on 11th and Morrison in SE that has some too. Sassys is what I think its called. A girl who cuts my hair works there, pretty decent, smallish place.

J,

Have you ever been to a strip club in Portland? I haven't been in a bunch of years, but when I went last (prob about 5 years ago), they were great. They were basically just like neighborhood bars where from time to time the girls hanging out at the bar drinking would go to a pole in the corner and strip. There was one cool place (a bigger joint) where they'd sometimes have bands playing on one stage with girls stripping on the other. Most of the girls weren't very "stripper-looking" but there were lots of cute punkish/rocker chicks.

I just moved back to the East coast from Portland a few months ago after living in Portland for 8 months and I can't think of many things you should do. Rent a car and get to the coast once, and try to make the trek to Crater Lake. Then go get blitzed at bars the rest of the nights. Also make sure to order a beer or two on nitrous. Instead of CO2 they pump it with nitrous and it makes the beer much tastier for some reason, good stuff.

Default Re: Portland, OR--brief TRIP REPORT and thanks!

things i did thanks to this forum and all of the good suggestions in it.

1. went to El Gaucho for an slightly overpriced but very very good meal with great service.

2. ran by the river. beautiful.

3. spent 5 hours at Powell's Bookstore. maybe the best place on earth.

4. went to OMSI and saw the BodyWorlds 3 exhibit. very cool.

5. checked out GroundKontrol for old school video games. fun, but i didn't get to stay long.

6. at at Jake's. had the suggested stuffed salmon. really really tasty and like the place.

7. hit Cabaret (twice) hottish, punkish, long legged and small breasted strippers. fun enough, but very small. walked into Mary's Club. started laughing. drank one beer there very very very quickly. that place has to be seen to be believed.

8. not exactly mentioned but went the Crystal Ballroom (it is a McMennamins place) and watched the New Pornographers put on a great show. had a couple beers. tasty.

9. ate with friends at the Portland City Grill. had a great view from a window side table and had a great bottle of Oregon Pinot (Panther Creek) and a very nice time.

did a bunch of other stuff that wasn't suggested, but the quality def. came from you guys, so thanks. J.
