Default Dealer says the Ace Plays (No real content)

Ok, it's a $5-$10 game on a Royal Carribean Cruise (you want to play this game), I shouldn't expect perfecion, but --

I've long folded the hand.

Board has 8,10,J,Q.

Player 1 shows 9-9
Player 2 shows 9-A

Dealer starts pushing the chips to Player 2. Three of us(including player 1) say what are you doing, chop the pot. (Player 2 says nothing and has that deer in the headlights clueless look).

The dealer says the Ace plays -- he has a Queen high straight with an Ace kicker. An argument ensues, with the dealer insisting that Player 1 deserves the pot. This goes around a few times until someone asks for the floor to come over (at which point, the dealer bows to the pressure of the table and says nothing.)

Anyone seen a worse attempted call?

Thats pretty bad, What was teh rake on the game? When I was on a Royal Carribean cruise there was the PokerPro digital table and that thing took a 10% rake - with no max. I had a $600 pot and had $60 taken away. It's a good thing there was a lot of bad players or I woulda been pissed.

The rake is now 10% on the first $100.

I'd say at any time, there were 4-5 players who could spell poker, and 2-3 who probably watched once or twice on TV and didn't understand why they couldn't go all in (it was a 5-10 game).

Only 7 in the game (since they converted a BlackJack Table to play poker). Average 5 saw every flop. VERY few raises on the flop, and most everyone was a calling station thereafter.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun.

I assume that's a typo in your post. Wow, didn't know you could be a dealer and be that clueless.

On a cruise ship this doesn't surprise me in the least, neither players or dealers have a clue.

This call was so wrong. The other guy had a straight and a pair of 9s. How can Ace kicker beat a pair of 9s?
