NLCASH: How to do table-selection?
How do you find out if someone is a shark so you can avoid him?
I know you can play with him and if you feel you donīt have an edge on him he is likely a shark. But it takes time to figure him out and your feel of his skills may be wrong. Another tool is to recognize if his name matches a name on 2+2. But if there is something like Sharkscope for cash-games I would like to know about it. |

Re: NLCASH: How to do table-selection?
I thought PokerDB was building some sort of a cash DB for this type of thing, I could be wrong though.
I'm guessing you can probably just make some sort of a list after watching people for 5-10 minutes. Do it for 30 minutes a day, open up all the HU tables at your level and take down names and your opinion of how good they are. In a week or two you should have a good list. Otherwise just sit down and play and quit if you feel you lack an edge. |

You can usually tell within 10-20 hands.

Re: NLCASH: How to do table-selection?
Meh, my answer wasn't very constructive.
If you see someone 3betting a lot, it's first sign they grasp basic HU strategy. However, one of my "friend listed" adversaries 3bets 30% of the time. Limping on the button is always a good sign you are up against a donk. Although, if you play short I think you will see more people do this. If you are getting CRed on dry flops where you didn't hit, but the villain knows that... that's another sign. I dunno, maybe it's a leak but there's only one person I wouldn't play and he's already moved up. He ran sick hot on me, but he was extremely good. I figure neutral edge matches are very good for learning and I think just about everyone has exploitable tendencies... and that's really the key to HU cash. I feel that I have my finger on the pulse of the game more than most and will very quickly discover changes in my opponent's gameplan. |

Re: NLCASH: How to do table-selection?
See how often he raises from the button and how often he flatcalls from the blind. That should tell you all you need to know.
