I've heard of Amylin but I don't think we do anything for them. I work for a company called Veolia, which handles hazardous waste. Sort of the same as Clean Harbors or ACT if you know either of those companies.

I hate to sidetrack the thread, but it seems like there's a few people here in the field. Have any of you ever heard of Metabasis? I really don't know much about them but I might get a job offer from them. It would pay more, but I don't want to go to some startup and not have a job in 6 months because they tank.

Is anybody in SD aside from service industry employees working this week? How about downtown/Chula Vista area, that's plenty far away, right?

I fear that if I was in a situation like this where I wouldn't have to work for a few days I would end up at a bar by a beach getting drunk and playing Golden Tee like 14 hours/day. Not a brag.

Our clients are still closed tomorrow but my boss is going to find some BS work for me tomorrow. I never thought it would suck being hourly but now, I wish I was salary. Losing 3 days pay hurts me quite bad. I've been drinking, but it's drinking away my sorrows of being broke.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm seriously getting cabin fever. I'm tempted to call Oceans and see if their doors are open, just to get out for a couple hours tonight.

ARGH

Sycuan is open. I was there earlier today and many of the dealers were bitching but it seemed about a normal size crowd for a Wednesday afternoon.

I was just at Oceans and it's business as usual. Casinos generally never ever close. They might close if a nuclear bomb went off IN the casino. And even then they would just rope off one section.

So I'm seeing talk of arson for one/some of the fires toward LA, and possible al Qaeda connections??? Insane.

Spooky but not surprising. I've always thought that mass arson is a really easy way to inflict tons of damage, a la "The Stand".

That said, it's annoying that everything bad that happens these days sends people into terrorism paranoia. I'm surprised they didn't blame it on Katrina, like maybe there were giant fans out in the Carribean blowing the hurricane towards New Orleans.

Jamie Lee Curtis blamed it on global warming and "people building houses where they don't belong," and said it "wasn't an act of god, it was an act of man." Yeah jamie, all of SoCal is really inhospitable and humans have no business living there. Clear it the [censored] out.

I was in San Diego last week from Wednesday to Sunday and I didn't hear about this [censored] once. Was it because I didn't turn on the TV or has it gotten way way worse in the last 3 days?
