Dude, you played it fine (although I like shoving flop better with your stacksize). Take it to BBV.

What I'm saying is that you shouldn't be thinking "omg, I should have reraised the flop to protect my aces against his two outs!") That's just results oriented. What you should be thinking is how to get the most value out of your hand. It doesn't matter if he stacks you on a 2 outer 'cause they happen so rarely.

nh imo

not to be results oriented but him having 88 in his range is a pretty good reason not to shove the flop

Question is, what's the best way of getting more value out of 88? I think pushing the flop is best since the turn can bring a lot of scarecards for him, and bet/calling the flop will get most TAG's very suspicious of a slowplay.

But if he's really aggro, then flat calling and hoping for a turn bluff might be better. But for that play we need a read which we don't have.

88 is a small percentage of his range. a J is a much larger part, as are draws both of which shoving is better against. Also, you have a better chance of getting all of the money from 88 by 3-betting here than you do by calling and hoping he'll turn it into a bluff against a shortstack on the turn or river.
