Right now, the Gold Strike is giving money away as if they don't want to get caught with it.

[/ QUOTE ] The Gold Strike promotion was cancelled 2 days after it started.

The poker room rate of $40 at the Grand is nice but you're away from the better games at the GoldStrike and the Horseshoe. Personally, I'd stay at the GoldStrike and get the poker room rate of $50/night and be in the middle of everything. If you don't plan on drinking and don't mind driving a short distance it's probably not that big of a deal but even for just the convenience factor I'd still do it. Good Luck!

do you have a contact person or phone # for poker room rate at GS?

Ask for Beth. If you call this week ask for Rita (Beth is on vac)

Also unless something has changed in the last few weeks then the Sun-Thurs the poker rate is $35 and $50 on Fri and Sat. IMO the GS and Horseshoes rooms are equal. But they're both a little better than The Grand.

The Atrium has a nice place to eat and order off the menu. May I suggest the BBQ chicken quesadillas? The Horseshoe has the best buffet though.

The GS is giving a lot of money away not in part (IMO) because they have near 600k in BBJ money.

There has been some talk of trying to make tourhey hands part of the BBJ. Now THAT would be awesome.

Getting excited about a trip in November to Gold Strike - just got off the phone w/Rita. One thing I learned is that tournament time does not count towards your 5-hour requirement. Which turns out to be fine because the only tournament that Saturday is the 11am $335 buyin (1st Saturday of November) which is too rich for my blood. Room rate is $50/night on a Saturday. We'll be there that Saturday & early Sunday. A couple buddies from our weekly home game coming with me to play low stakes for fun, we're not serious players just hoping to have fun and maybe win a little at 3/6 limit or 1/2 NL.

I don't know what you mean.

I was in there Saturday at 12:01 AM when it started.

It was running each of the next three nights. I was there.

I was not there Tuesday. I was there Wednesday afternoon, it was still running.

I'll be there tonight, and will report back.

I was there last night (Wednesday), and the promotions were still running.
$300 drawing at 9pm. others for $100.
My girlfriend made quads and won $100.

First time I'd been in awhile, and the 1-2 NL game was very good.

Poker room rate was $30.

All the promos I mentioned were still in force tonight.

Coincidentally, they had almost every table in use, something that hadn't happened on a Thursday all summer.

As soon as I got there, a player told me, "They're stopping the bonus hands at midnight tonight."

I immediately checked with the floorperson, who assured me that there were currently no plans to stop the bonus hands before the scheduled date of December 31.

It's hard for me to understand how rumors like this get started, or how they survive, when it's so easy to find out the facts.
