Stars $100- A-Q on draw heavy board with K on board
Wasn't sure what to do here, didn't think I was beating a whole hell of a lot- had I been raised I was done with the hand. Anyone have a better line? I tried to block the river.

Bet more on the flop/turn to protect against draws, and check river.

def. check river, I don't see it as a necessary spot to block.
most hands are checking behind. blocking bets are not particularly effective against pure bluffs, and these are the only hands that you will win a SD against that will bet river anyway. |

Re: Star $100- A-Q on draw heavy board with K on board
Villain showed A-K, MHING. Other than the possible river check (call decent sized bet after bluff induction?), should I really be betting more on flop (3/4 pot) and turn (50% of pot) when I am not close to confident I am ahead?

Flop needs to be more since it's such a wet flop. The turn doesn't change much so if you are firing a second barrel, it needs to be larger than yours.

Umm...I don't think betting the flop more heavily (e.g., potting it) would really protect your hand vs. drawing hands, as I find that most players will call almost anything on the flop with a reasonable draw, and this isn't a scenario where you want to swell your pot, because your hand is mediocre and your reverse implied odds are troublesome.
While you didn't protect your hand here due to the weak bets (and as it turns out, you had nothing to protect!), you probably lost less than if you did. |

Re: Star $100- A-Q on draw heavy board with K on board
are you betting this turn for value, for bluff, or for what?
if it's for bluff, bet more. if it is for value, this is fine. i check this river too, nothing got there, and if you were behind on the flop/turn, you're still behind here as well. |

Re: Star $100- A-Q on draw heavy board with K on board
I guess value- I would definitely have checked behind had I been in position for pot control. The turn bet was more of a bet I made not to lose control of the hand and have to face two large bets from a flush draw or pair and straight draw.
