aurora seattle? it's slow but the one game they have is very good. not like a 4/8 or 8/16 could be bad though.

$6 rake, smoke from casino, all the players are typical rude suburbanites. And if the casino needs to open more slot machines, they will close up a poker table.

Room is much better than before - seriously.

Two tables of 10-20 with 1/2 kill, three tables of 5-10, and one table for SnGs when I was there a couple weekends ago. Players were bad, dealers were bad.

This is still the worst poker room in Illinois --- haha, the only competition for that title is in Metropolis.

1. Horseshoe/Gold Strike in Tunica
2. Harrahs in St Louis

Making first trip to the Southern Indiana poker rooms next month.

abe, looks like you & i are coming from the opposite direction...i live in chicago & am wondering what the good places to play in the area are. my only b&m experience was about 3.5 years ago @ hollywood, so i didn't have much to compare it to at the time.

anybody else from the same neck of the woods?

For mid limit, Resorts is the only place. If you play low limit, you could consider the Majestic. Personally, if I lived across the street from Hollywood I'd still drive to Resorts.

Sorry hapa,

I was being very sarcastic, and not very helpful. I'm not much of a fan of the poker rooms in the Chicago area. Try Hollywood in Aurora again. Its better than 3 years ago.

Go to NW Indiana like the other posts said. Resorts and MJStar are your best choices. Actually they are the only choices.

Or you could wait for Joliet (Empress - or whatever it is now) to reopen their poker room again --and then reclose it again. No big loss.

East Chicago, Indiana had Showboat, sold to Harrahs (now there was a hot cardroom a few years ago) and now its Resorts.

Hammond was an Empress and had a cardroom for a while. Horseshoe there now does not ---- but rumored to be getting a nice one.

Gary had a mess with the Trump and MJStar having and not having poker. Now MJStar has the entire property and has poker.

As far as Illinois goes, your choices are Aurora or Metropolis. "yuck and double yuck"

Illinois poker players should just go to Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, etc.
