Default Early Position Starting Hands

I've never played full ring online before but i have plenty of experience playing 6 max. i'm going to be starting at 100nl on full tilt, and i'm wondering about utg ranges. do you guys open or fold all small to mid pairs, and what about hands like 78s QJs, or AJo- which i would each open utg in 6max

Welcome to FR

General consensus here is to play pretty tight UTG & UTG+1
UTG at 6-Max = MP in full ring.

22+ AK+ (Some dont like the small PP but I never had a problem)
AQ is a matter of debate (meh IMO)
AJ & KQ at your discression (not for me though)

Usual "table conditions" & "mix it up" stuff applies.
Personally I dont open limp but there are times I suppose it could be OK.

UTG I raise AQs+, AK, most PP's, and not much else. If Im playing at a table where opponents seem to be paying attention Ill throw in some other weaker hands. Get rid of 87s, AJo etc. I however am on the TAGgier side.

22+, AQs+, AQo+ for me. I've been thinking about taking 22-55 out of that range though since I'm losing with them UTG. I think I need more hands though. Welcome to FR!

welcome habib...havnt seen u since we were both heavy into PLO8.

general concensus on this forum on UTG/EP play is 22+/AK+ (AQ sometimes) for a raise. most dont condone limping (i do...but ima rare breed).

i also mix in raising 45s+, 57s+, and the occasional Q8 (Q8 is my mixup hand. i play it like i wud KK)

(if ur gettin into 100FR on FTP...PM me if u wanna talk about it)

I like all pp for 2.5X-5X, all tables.

Table of limpers/cold callers, I'll open AKo+

Table of tighties, I'll open AJs, AQo, maybe maybe maybe KQ.

IMHO, nothing else is profitable in EP.... unless you have unreal post-flop skillz. Unreal, not just above average.

There is of course the occaisional table where I can profitably play 50/40/5 for an extended period of time. ATC will do in EP for those occaisions

I'm super nitty until I hit the hijack and hijack - 1, which is where your 6-max UTG range is based. I play most PP's, AK, AQs until then. Sometimes I add in KQs. I generally don't play AQo in the EPs. I hate that friggin' hand. Depends on the table, but that's what I aim at (yes, I'm a position nit). I treat the 1st 3 positions the same. As Tommy Angelo likes to say, there's early, hijack, co and button.

my standard range is 22+ & AQs+, tho i also include some SC's and suited one-gappers just to keep any thinking opponents on their toes. I used to avoid 22-55 UTG and utg+1, but im showing a nice profit with all my PPs from EP.

If its a real tight table i'll include AJs, AQo & KQ and play more of the SC's.

KJ, QJ, AT, never.
