Default Does using PT help you in the long run?

I use it to help my game out but ive been thinking tht in the long run this might not be too helpful.

It seems from reading the posts people rely on stats so much which is great if your only going to play online, but wouldnt this hurt your live play?

Poker seems to be so much about feels and instincts and using PT extensively would hurt those areas right?

PT has much more to offer than just allowing you to use a HUD to track others' stats - I would highly recommend it even if this wasn't a feature.

If nothing else (and there is certainly PLENTY more) it allows to you reply hands at your own speed- and see what went right / wrong, etc. How can that not help your game?

I think the two main features of poker tracker are...
1) the ability to point out long term leaks in preflop play
2) the ability to short circut "feel" with hard statistics.

1) is good for you
2) is bad if you rely on this as your sole input for how to play vs a particular opponent.

with 1) you might mistakenly think playing A6s from mp is a good thing. PT can show you clearly that it is -X.Y BB EV.
The result after reviewing your stats, is you should stop playing that hand preflop in that situation and improve your overall BB/100

2) is a crutch that might not tell you the whole story.
if you are lazy and dont pay attention this is a bad thing.
Even though your opponent might show some funny stats such as playing 70% of hands, the previous session might have been actually been played by the "real" persons' wife/room mate. That player might have been on tilt and/or the player might have improved recently and is now only playing 22.5% of hands.
etc.

Shouldn't this be in the software forum?

If it's not you're not using it right.
