This is a great thread and I am thankful for some of the gems I've found in here that I have never heard before. There are few things that make me as happy as hearing a masterpiece song for the very first time... especially when the song was written a long time ago.
For some reason the title of this thread made me think of songs I would want to hear on my death bed... so here are a few of mine: I'm Ready: Tracy Chapman This Patty Griffin song is really something special I think. Of course the live youtube recording sucks, but here it is: Up to the Mountain I can't believe I'm about to link something from American Idol.... but the song is so good, Jeff Beck is so amazing, and Kelly Clarkson just flat out sings the song the right way: Beck/Clarkson Up to the Mountain Irieguy

U2 - One Martin page - House of Stone and Light Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight Simon and Garfunkel - The Boxer All really famous songs, but ones I consider really beautiful songs regardless of what kind of music you like

This is the most amazing song I have seen performed live, and I have seen a ton of live shows.
Pearl Jam - Daughter into It's O.K. by Dead Moon The version of Daughter is very good, but cover of It's O.K. at the end is crazy good. There is something extrememly comforting and peacful about the phrase, "It's OK" and then add on top of that Eddie Vedder singing it just makes it really amazing IMO. I think it really shows the power of music. I hope people check out the link and interested to see if others think the same or is it had to be there moments. -Phil
