OK, here is my suggestion, if people who are going to play can either agree or suggest changes, maybe we can reach a consensus soon and then try to finalize money and participant details.

- Tournament starts August 5th.
- Split people into 4 groups randomly.
- Everyone plays everyone else in their group, best 2 out of 3, 200bb stacks.
- First round matches must all be completed by end of August 18th.
- Player with the best W/L record in each group advances to semi-finals.

- Semi-final participants are seeded by W/L record with total number of games lost acting as tie-breaker.
- Semi-finals are best 2 out of 3, 200bb stacks, single elimination.
- Semi-final matches must all be completed by end of August 26th.

- Finals are best 3 out of 5, 200bb stacks.

- What do people want for payout structure? I would suggest 75% for first, 25% for second, but obviously it's cool if you guys want a flatter structure, say, 55% first, 25% second, 10% third and fourth? That way, you at least get something for getting out of the first round?

if you play in groups, there might be some collusion in the last games (or at least some guys claiming there was collusion afterwards)

you could payout 10k for every victory during the round robin games, which could prevent this
if there is a number of players between 13 and 15, you could also make the players in a group with 4 players pay less to nullify the disadvantage of being in a larger group

for example it could be 50k per player in a 3 man group (paying out 10k per match there will remain 120k for the prizepool and one player advances) and 45k per player in a 4 man group (paying out 10k per match there will also remain 120k for the prizepool and one player advances)
so that would be 480k for the prizepool, which could e.g. be paid out 260k-120k-50k-50k

you also need a second tie-breaker
the best one is probably an additional 100bb match

I highly highly doubt anyone would even claim that any of these cut-throat MFers are going to be colluding. Also, people likely won't even know where they stand, so unless they are a)totally out of the running obviously and b)then playing their friend to whom they can dump games, the collusion issue won't come up.

That being said, I'm not even playing, so I'm happy with any format people want. So far, however, no one who is playing has voiced any objections, and I'd like to keep things as simple as possible. Your idea is an interesting one, though. as for second tie-breaker, again with so few players it is unlikely to occur, but i'd be happy with a 100bb tie-breaker match. or a game of roshambo. or flip a coin. or whatever. or we could just cross that bridge in the unlikely event that it occurs.

if every result is equally probable, there will be a tie in 6% of the cases in a 3 man group (and it will be a tie between all 3 of them)

btw i highly doubt there will be collusion, but i wouldnt be surprised if someone claims there was afterwards
