[ QUOTE ] JoA, I don't really like WARP3 that much for catchers. Especially wrt the defense. But the evidence is pretty plain. If he plays a few more years he should get in, likely he won't because voters r dum. [/ QUOTE ] What team do you bat for? [/ QUOTE ] |

I'm sure if we do something like straight batting runs he's in. Posada has hit as well as Bench did in Bench's first 10 season.Their OPS+ is close, but Bench has 3000 more PA. |

Re: Does Posada end up in the Hall?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I think my posts are pretty consistent. You seemed to think you could draw some overall value comparison directly from those lists: "Posada can be compared to legendary greats such as Mike Stanley, if he doesn't make the Hall its obviously a snub of Blyleven proportions." Also, how are you this emotionally invested in a discussion about someone making the HOF? [/ QUOTE ] Because when people make obviously incorrect arguments it irritates me. It also irritates me to know that if Posada wasn't a career Yankee this discussion is not taking place. [/ QUOTE ] huh? i am a yankee fan and imo Posada will deservingly miss the HOF. however, you can't make a statement like that and NOT (edit) bring up someone at least from the last 20-30 years who compares to Posada, NOT on the Yankees, and NOT in the HOF. i think you'll find there are a lot more benito santiagos out there than jorge posadas. |

Re: Does Posada end up in the Hall?
Posada will probably end up with a comparable career value to Simba and, accordingly, be left out.

[ QUOTE ]
He obv doesn't get in if he retires/dies at the end of the season. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, I think dying could help, as long as it wasn't drug or alcohol related. Maybe he dies pulling some kids out of a lake or something. He'd be a shoo-in then. |

Re: Does Posada end up in the Hall?
[ QUOTE ]
Jack you just lost your own argument. The average Prospectus score for CATCHERS IS 95.3. That means for an UNDER AVERAGE DEFENSIVE CATCHER to make the Hall he should be OVER THE AVERAGE. Posada is 15 pts UNDER it. Considering his age thinking these scores will improve a great deal is ridiculously wishful thinking. Im willing to wait and see however. If Posada hits .500 with a .600 OBP and 90 homeruns in his last two yrs I'l admit hes a hall of famer. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think you understand how WARP3 works. |
