Don't. At BEST you're 56% to win (against AJ+, TT+). Most likely you are 37% (QQ+). I'd need to see him do this several times before I'd even consider calling. Move on, you've invested nothing.

Ive seen this only once in my entire career. He had KK. I had AA. Lolaments ensued.

So in other words, if you cant beat KK+, fold.

I uttered some obscenities and folded. Can someone rationalize this with some maths?

You need 48.5% equity to call profitably against his range here.

Against KK+, you have 23%
Against QQ+, AK you have 41.9%
Against JJ+, AQs+, AKo you have 45.6%
Against TT+,AQs+,AQo+ you have 51.6%

This is a pretty easy fold imo considering those ranges, unless you have a specific read or the guy is on wild monkey tilt.

I have done this myself after UTG raised 20xBB pre flop. With AA of course. He had QQ.

Then again I called such a bet with AKs and won vs. 75o. But my guy was 80/50 approx.

I guess vs. this one it's a fold.

Similar hand happened to me yesterday, TBH I think I probably should have folded, no reads on villain:

Poker Stars, $0.05/$0.10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 4 Players
LeggoPoker Hand History Converter

Hero (SB): $14.80
BB: $11
UTG: $10.50
BTN: $17.95

Pre-Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (SB)
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.40, BB raises to $11 and is All-In, Hero calls $10.60

Flop: ($22) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players - 1 is All-In)

Turn: ($22) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players - 1 is All-In)

River: ($22) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players - 1 is All-In)

Results: $22 Pot ($1.10 Rake)
Hero showed K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (a pair of Eights) and WON $20.90 (+$9.90 NET)
BB mucked A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and LOST (-$11 NET)
