So then you wouldnt do this with sc' either correct? Your range here would be something like AQ+ and I dont know, maybe 88+?

4-betting ATo is like going to war with a spoon

[/ QUOTE ]

I killed someone with a spoon once.

This is pure spew, if you get called you are crushed and in a 4 bet pot this is going to be the case often, and you're risking over 40 to win a 18 pot.

Note, the 40 bet was actually 18.45 which was roughly his stack. Not actually $40 effective stacks after pf.

even seems worse then.. since he's prolly not letting go of AK and maybe AQ since he has so much of his stack committed.

Again, I realize my mistake, I am more concerned about the future with situations like this. I guess the question goes to everyone, if you are in my situation, is doing the 4 bet with a range of 88+ and AQ+ reasonable or still spew?

Actually, if villain folds AK/AQ here deciding hitting top pair would be good enough to commit, villain made a huge mistake on this flop by folding (and preflop by just calling 4-bet).

The reason AK/AQ are better to make moves with on these flops is because you still got decent equity vs some overpairs, while AT got lousy equity vs any overpair and any ace.

beyond learning to combat this type of strategy, realize that there is no need to play at tables with good/tough players behind you when there are so many better tables available

Ok, Ive been thinking about this a lot (Ive taken a lot of dumps today). So hopefully this can help clear up this situation and maybe against all habitual 3 betters.
